Dr. Nene completed his undergraduate and medical school at Washington University in St. Louis in the Scholars Program in Medicine, a prestigious, combined undergraduate-medical program. He went on to do his General Surgery training at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he also did a vascular research fellowship. He completed his Cardiovascular and Thoracic Fellowship at the University of Florida. He practiced as a partner in the Rocky Mountain Cardiovascular Surgeons in Denver, Colorado as a board-certified General, Cardiovascular, and Thoracic Surgeon.
With 28 years of experience as a surgeon, specialized in mitral valve repair, endovascular aortic surgery, thoracic oncology, and robotic and minimally invasive approaches to heart and lung surgery. He is licensed in California, Colorado, and Maharashtra, India.
Dr. Nene has published and presented at numerous conferences, globally, including American College of Surgeons, Society of Vascular Surgery, and the Association of Academic Surgeons as well as being a medical authority on various panel discussions and talks in the media. He was also a collaborating investigator on isolated limb perfusion for ischemia supported with American Heart Association grant at UCLA.
